New Grade for Fall 2023 is a national recognition for patient safety.

(Montclair, Calif – November 17, 2023) – Montclair Hospital Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare Foundation, earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog that sets standards for excellence in patient care.

This is the fifth time Montclair Hospital Medical Center has earned an ‘A’ grade in patient safety from Leapfrog, the nation’s premier advocate of transparency in health care.

Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.

“Earning an ‘A’ grade means Montclair Hospital made a true commitment to put patients first,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We congratulate the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers that all had a role to play in this achievement.”

“We strive to create an environment conducive to compassionate care, and we take every measure to ensure that our patients receive the best possible treatment,” said Gail Aviado, CEO at Montclair Hospital Medical Center. “Thank you to our dedicated staff and physicians. This recognition is a testament to their commitment and ability to deliver personalized care with exceptional outcomes for our patients.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program exclusively based on hospital prevention of medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day nationally. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually in the fall and spring.

Montclair Hospital has been nationally recognized for its clinical excellence. In addition to exceeding standards for patient safety, the hospital recently earned the “Get With the Guidelines Gold Plus Achievement for Heart Failure with Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll” by the American Heart Association.

As a member of Prime Healthcare, Montclair Hospital joins other Prime hospitals across the nation that have achieved award-winning accolades for clinical excellence.
